That "Wow!" Comes from Goliad

The most inspiring news from recent happenings in Texas Track and Field does not come from a single performance.  It comes from the achievements of one family in the sport, the Zamzows of Goliad Texas.

James “Stacy” Zamzow is the father, Kalleen, the mother.  Stacy left Three Rivers out of high school for A&M where he met Kalleen Madden from Yoakum.  They married.  Today, they have six children, all of whom excel in Track and Field.  Stacy coaches Track and Field for Goliad High School.  Kalleen is a physical therapist.

Ashtin Zamzow Mahler is perhaps the best known of the Zamzow children. In 2015 Ashtin was the Pan American Junior Champion in the heptathlon. Collegiately, Ashtin competed for Texas A&M before transferring to UT Austin where she continued in her sport.

Avery Zamzow, Ashtin’s older sister, was also a heptathlete competing for Sam Houston State University.

The youngest of the Zamzow sisters, Addison, has just signed to compete for Rice University.

The three Zamzow brothers appear determined not to be outdone by their sisters.   Cutler and Coly have competed for Texas A&M.   Cutler this past spring was a member of the NCAA champion 4x400 relay team and for one of his legs was timed at 44.7.

The youngest Zamzow, Cord, is a junior in Goliad High School. Last spring he finished 5th in the 300-yard hurdles at the state meet. Cord is also a stalwart on the Goliad HS football team.
